A look at some e-book readers
E-book readers have always tried to bridge the gap between the comfort of regular books and the convenience of digitized data. At the center of this endeavor is the E Ink display screen that has couple of advantages over traditional LCD displays for reading. Text displayed using the E Ink panel looks a lot like ink printed on paper, and does not require any backlight source. Also, the screen does not need constant refreshing when displaying static images, unlike LCD displays. These reasons combine to make e-readers a comfortable medium for reading with relatively low power demands.
Amazon Kindle
Amazon released the first model of Kindle in late 2007 and has since released several models like Kindle 2 and Kindle Graphite. Pictured here is the latest model of Kindle which retains the original moniker and a 6-inch (diagonal) E Ink electronic paper display, but does away with a keyboard and reduced internal storage capacity to 2GB.
