Canon EOS Rebel T3 (1100D) launched internationally, entry-level DSLR captures 720p video

By Sriram Sharma RSS Sriram Sharma posted Feb 8th 2011 at 5:56PM | Filed under: Photo & Printer » Camera

720p video recording capability isn't a great milestone in an era where most high-end smartphones can do the same, but for amateur/hobby photographers, it makes sense to go for the latest Rebel T3 DSLR - which, when compared to its entry level predecessor - the 1000D, adds a movie mode. Canon's 1100D should put some sort of a fight against the Nikon D3100, a 2010 edition entry-level DSLR that can capture full HD video at 1080p. The 1100D was launched at $599 in the US yesterday, along with the $800 T3i. Other specs of note include a 12.1 megapixel CMOS sensor, a 9-point autofocus system, DIGIC 4 image processor, a newer EP-E10 battery that delivers 700 shots per charge.
