Microsoft reveals details of Windows Store design
Microsoft has posted a fairly detailed walkthrough of the Windows Store user experience on the MSDN blog. Considering the nature of the blog, the information revealed is more focused towards individual developers or app vendors. The post details the structure of the forthcoming Windows Store and how the user will be exposed to new and popular apps. In addition, the blog post discusses things like purchasing and/or installation process, along with things like updates and licensing for premium apps.

The interface of the Store’s landing page and general navigation should be readily recognizable to Xbox 360 users with the latest UI update installed. The Store’s interface is centered on the tile-based Metro UI interface that evidently makes browsing and navigation a less cumbersome affair. Microsoft had vowed to incorporate a powerful search engine for those who prefer to get directly to the app they are looking for.

New apps will download in the background and so will updates for apps that are already installed on the system. Purchasing of apps can be configured to a one click system or locked behind an authorization password. All premium apps purchased through the Windows Store will have license to be installed on five Windows 8 PCs. The apps will support saving of setting and states provided the user has signed into a Windows Live account.
