Apple release iBooks Author as free download

Apple has released e-book authoring software called iBooks Author to create interactive books with multi-touch support. There have been talks about Apple making a big push in the education sector, and this may just be the beginning of it. In keeping with the Apple tradition of doing business, the books created using this app will only function in an Apple environment.

 

The iBooks Author app has been developed for Mac OS X 10.7.2; it creates books that can be published directly to iBookstore and the books can be read using iBooks 2 application. The application supports galleries, videos, reviews, keynotes, interactive images, 3D images, and HTML code to create e-books. iBooks Author has been released as free download on the Mac App Store, alongside an update for iBooks 2.
