Android 1.6 Phone OS working on Windows XP [How-To]
Android based tablets are a reality; there is so much excitement over it. But I love working on a desktop computer with a processor speed of more than 2.4 GHz. I tried getting the Android Phone OS to work on Windows; the same OS that tablets are functioning on, which they have tweaked for better functioning. Though it is a not full blown Operating System for a computer but it sure did give me a taste of what to expect in future computers and what a light OS can do for my computer. There are some steps to get the Android phone OS working on your computer, it is not rocket science, but a walkthrough helps. It's pretty fun to see Android phone OS working on your Windows PC:

To run any guest operating system you will require a Virtual Box; Click here, and follow the simple instructions from the good people at Virtual Box.
Basic Keys: -
Esc = Back Key Mouse + Keyboard
Keys = Interface Right
CTRL = to toggle between the OS and windows
Right Mouse Click = Menu
As you can see on the home-screen, there is the analog clock, Contacts, Browser, Facebook, and calendar amongst other things!

A pictorial journey.. Introduction.. Let’s start from the start! Unlike ChromeOs this is not an actual desktop OS or even meant for net-book. This is the OS used by Android phones which is run on the virtual-box platform. But its fun to say the least -- a part of computer is running an OS meant for phones.

So, I tried it today and well these are some of the things I would love to share some of the features of this virtual Android OS!
Yes! You guessed it right it looks like the G1 it is the G1 with the default home-screen! There are 3 home-screens with the space of 7 screens.

The Menu, the default menu has the same applications that you are to find on any Android based phone. But like I mentioned most of the applications are made for a phone and so rendering them on your computer is well not possible.
Email:
I love the Email application in all the Android phones, simple to use and push! Simple one step process, log in from your Email Id and Password and Poof! Your email is synchronized!

Browser (Chrome Light)
Using this browser on PC is amazing!

Adding Widgets is very simple Right Click to Access widgets

Selecting a Short-Cut
Add to Home-Screen
The tricky part is to “insert memory card” into the virtual box and I am still getting a hang of it...
More Updates Soon! I am just getting started with this OS on my PC! Till then,
Android on Windows XP can work on Mac and Ubuntu too!
