Samsung’s N100 MeeGo based netbook
Samsung today officially released N100 netbook in India, which is based on its N150p netbook design. The Korean electronics giant’s hook for this netbook is a balance between lightweight design and a robust housing. The N100 netbook weight 1.03 kilograms and the casing is made of Samsung’s scratch-resistant Duracase that supposedly makes it resilient to some rough loving. This netbook’s screen is an 10.1-inch LED-backlit LCD with a matte finish. The native resolution of the screen is 1024x600px and it is powered by Intel’s GMA 3150 graphics processor.

Under the hood is an Intel ATOM N435 central processor clocked at 1.33 GHz with access to 1GB of DDR3 RAM. Internal storage comes in the form of a 250GB hard-disk drive which spins at 5400rpm and removable storage option is a 4-in-1 card reader that supports SD, SDHC, SDXC and MMC. This netbook does not have a Wi-Fi transceiver, but it comes with an RJ45 port for wired network connection. Additional ports include Microphone-in, two USB ports and a port for headphones. The N100 netbooks are factory installed with MeeGo operating system and have an option to switch to Windows 7. This netbook is currently retailing at Rs 12,290 making it quite an affordable portable computing option.
