Coming soon: Asus Eee PC 1201T - the AMD Neo netbook

Sources tell us that the 12-inch Asus Eee PC 1201T netbook will be launched in India next week for an approximate price of Rs. 25,999. It's the first Asus netbook to use an AMD processor – the 1.66GHz Athlon Neo MV40, paired with ATI Radeon HD3200 graphics, gives it the ability to play full 1080p HD video content. Sadly, it doesn't come with an HDMI connector, you will have to make do with VGA, or the 12.1" WXGA(1366x768) LED backlit screen. The 1201T comes with 2 GB DDR II memory, a 320GB SATA HDD, support for WLAN 802.11b/g/n, Bluetooth2.1, LAN, 3 x USB 2.0, and a MMC/ SD(SDHC) card reader. The specs sheet says that it comes loaded with DOS, leaving you free to add your own OS. While Asus claims that it gives 6 hours of battery life, early reviews have reported much less. Still, if you want decent gaming performance on a netbook, it's either this or an Ion based netbook.
