ASUS, Intel and RCOM form a fellowship

ASUS, Intel and RCOM jointly announced their latest strategy to spread their business into as yet untapped regions of the country. ASUS for their part have reduced the price of their X101 netbook from Rs 12,499 to Rs 9,999. Reliance will begin selling and promoting this netbook and other Intel-based devices through their chain of RCom stores. In addition, Reliance will also be offering a discount on Reliance Netconnect with every purchase of ASUS X101 netbook.

 


ASUS’s Eee PC X101 netbook is powered by Intel’s Atom N435/N455 processor and is controlled by MeeGo operating system. The screen is a 10.1" LED backlight LCD with native resolution of 1024X600 and it is accompanied by a 0.3MP webcam. The standard configuration of this netbook comes with 1GB of DDR3 RAM, which can be increased to a maximum of 2GB. Storage options are available in the form of an 8GB SSD and 2GB of Dropbox online storage space. The X101 has two USB 2.0 ports, a MicroSD card reader and an audio-out port. The netbook has built-in speakers and a 3-cell battery pack that is rated to run for four hours under “normal usage conditions”. Weighing 0.92kgs, the X101 is available in a choice of Black, Red, White and Brown colors.
