CES 2012: 2nd-gen Samsung Series 9 ultraportables revealed
Samsung has launches the second generation of its top of the line ultraportable that retains the moniker of Series 9. The biggest change in the specs comes in the form of new HD+ SuperBright Plus screens with native resolution of 1600X900 pixels. According to Samsung, these new screens have 180% greater brightness, 160-degree viewing angle and anti-reflective coating.
The Series 9 will have 15-inch and 13-inch models, both of those will be powered by a choice of Intel’s Corei5 or Corei7 processor, up to 8GB of RAM and a choice between 128GB or 256GB of storage on SSD. These laptops boast of boot times of 9.8 seconds and wakeup time of 1.4 seconds. Beyond the basics, these second generation of Series 9 laptops gets a glass multi-touch trackpad, aluminum single-shell chassis and an optional, special designer leather sleeve. The release date for these laptops is set for sometime in February, priced at $1,399 for the 13-inch and $1,499 for the 15-inch model.
