Asus' super-powered G51J 3D gaming laptop parades into India!

For the longest time, Alienware has been the premium choice of gamers looking for an on-the-go powerhouse to get the most of portable playing. But with the launch of their latest gaming notebook, Asus has made a strong statement: there's a new boss in town!

The new Asus G51J has wowed us with its specifications alone in a way that no other laptop has managed ever before. The obvious selling point is the 3D aspect as it comes with Nvidia's 3D Vision technology (and accompanying active-shutter glasses and RF transmitter), which supports over 400 games out-of-the-box to deliver a three-dimensional experience like never before. And with Hollywood's love for 3D movies, this should prove a handy addition.

But more than that, it's what's under the hood that has us floored. Consider this: An Intel Core i7-720QM quad-core processor (1.6GHz natively, with a Super Turbo mode to overclock it to 2.8GHz), 4GB of DDR3 RAM, Nvidia GeForce GTX 260M graphics card with 1GB DDR5 dedicated memory, twin 320GB hard drives for a combined 640GB of space, Blu-Ray DVD Combo drive and a 6-cell battery! Wow, just wow! Of course, all of the usual paraphernalia comes with it, such as Windows 7, 15.6-inch HD LED-backlit screen (native resolution of 1366x768 pixels), Wi-Fi, HDMI out, plenty of USB ports, 2-megapixel Webcam, backlit keyboard, multi-touch trackpad, etc. What’s more, Asus has thrown in some other goodies as well: First, there is the Razer Copperhead gaming mouse, since no self-respecting gamer would ever use a trackpad to play.

And all of this can be safely stored and transported in a cool gaming backpack. Complete with an awesome design, the G51J 3D gaming laptop is, without doubt, one of the most awesome pieces of machinery we have ever come across. The hefty price tag of Rs. 99,000 has never looked more deserving. If you are still unsure about its might, check out reviews of the gaming laptop by Notebook Review, Hot Hardware and Laptop Mag.

(Note: Older versions of the laptop didn’t come with a Blu-ray drive, but rest assured that the models released in India do come with a Blu-ray DVD Combo drive.) Interested users should also note that there is an upgraded model, the G51JX-1X206V, which comes with 8GB of DDR3 RAM, an Nvidia GeForce GTX 360M graphics card with 1GB DDR5 memory and a single 500GB hard disk.
