WD slims down one TB hard-drive

 

Western Digital has developed one terabyte capacity hard-drives for laptop computer that are lightweight and low on power consumption. Dubbed the WD Scorpio Blue, these 9.5mm hard-drives are composed of just two platters with 500GB capacity each.

 

These premium drives that cost upwards of 10K have been equipped with features such as shock resistance up to 500G and proprietary SecurePark technology that parks the recording heads off the disk surface during spin up, spin down, and when the drive is off. The WD Scorpio Blue 1TB (WD10JPVT) drives are currently shipping for Rs. 10,650 + taxes.
