By Swapnil Kale RSS Swapnil Kale posted Sep 27th 2011 at 6:34AM | Filed under: Mobile » Telcos

BSNL (Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited) announced its fastest internet plan for consumers. This new plan is available at an unbelievable speed of 100 Mbps and it is based on FTTH (Fiber To The Home).

Currently it is being rolled out in Pune and BSNL has mentioned that it will be made available for around 100 customers in the city in the next three months. It is expected that after the testing in Pune, BSNL will bring the plan to other circles. However there is no specific date for the same.

BSNL has already identified locations in Pune where this new service will be introduced, additionally the operator will also speak with the builders to make it easy to introduce these services in their upcoming projects by laying an optical fiber network from the start.

BSNL’s telephone exchanges will also be upgraded to provide FTTH services. We are quite excited to have 100 Mbps of internet for consumers, it may just be a matter of time until it is introduced to the masses and also comes at an affordable price.
