Toshiba shows a glimpse of the tablet future in dual screen mode
The iPad is just one in a wave of touchscreen devices in sleek form factors that we're likely to see this year. We’ve been chronicling a fair number of prototypes that will give Apple some competition in this space. Today being Toshiba’s 25’th anniversary, they’ve unveiled a limited edition laptop-tablet hybrid, the Libretto W100. It’s the first device on the Windows platform to have two touchscreens, the 7-inch LCDs can, depending on orientation, be used as a laptop or a e-book reader.
It looks like a larger version of the Nintendo 3DS, and we’re wondering if there will be any games customized to run on such a thing, (as for 3D, Engadget has a post on a laptop that can do just that..)
From the press shots, it looks quite handy, and reminds us of what the Courier tablet could be, it runs Windows 7 on a 1.2 GHz U5400 processor, has 2 GB of DDR3 memory, 62 GB SSD drive for storage, an 8-cell battery, and weighs just 699 grams. We're not likely to see this limited edition prototype make it to Indian shores, it's retailing in the US for $1099.
