MIPS launches Android ICS tablet for $99
If you are looking for a new affordable Android-based tablet then we suggest you to hold on a little bit longer. MIPS Technologies has launched a new tablet in China and the device is available for $99. However, the price is not the only appealing feature, the device comes with the latest Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich.

This tablet from MIPS is called the Nova 7 and while its specifications may not be great when compared to the much expensive tablet devices in the market it is a definite win due it is affordable price and the latest version of Android. In regards to the specifications the device is powered by a 1 GHz single-core processor based on the company’s XBurst CPU and supported by a Vivante GC860 GPU. It comes in a 7-inch form-factor, has a 2 megapixel, front facing camera (probably VGA), WiFi, Bluetooth, HDMI out and a microSD card slot. No 3G.
Google itself seems to be excited about this device as Andy Rubin, Senior VP of mobile mentioned, “I’m thrilled to see the entrance of MIPS-Based Android 4.0 tablets into the market. Low cost, high performance tablets are a big win for mobile consumers and a strong illustration of how Android’s openness drives innovation and competition for the benefit of consumers around the world.”
The company has announced that the device will be coming to the US and other markets in coming months.
