Computex 2011 Highlights + News of the Week [Video]
Catch the news of the week as we recount the biggest news stories and announcements at Computex 2011.
Asus was the mainstay of Computex 2011, with a flurry of notebook and netbook announcements, updates to their ROG range, a glasses-free 3D tablet, and of course, the innovative new Asus PadPhone. This phone tablet hybrid would be best suited for Google's next generation OS - Ice Cream Sandwich, and is expected by the end of this year.
Intel announced the next generation of processors for tablets, laptops and netbooks, Ivy Bridge generation cores, due in 2012 will enable a form factor that Intel calls the Ultrabook. The next generation of laptops will most likely run on an SSD, support USB 3.0 and Thunderbolt. They'll also be a lot more power efficient than Sandy Bridge laptops. (Read More)
nVidia announced a $99 pair of wired 3D glasses, updated its graphics chipset for laptops with the GTX 560M, and introduced an SoC codenamed Kal-El, which will have four ARM Cortex A9 cores. (Read More)
Finally, Microsoft demoed Windows 8, which has been optimised for touch input, and will support ARM and X86 architectures. (Read More)
