Asus Eee Pad and Eee Tablet get official
Asus has announced three slate/tablet devices a day before the Computex 2010 expo begins in Taipei, Taiwan. The 10-inch Eee Pad EP101TC and the Eee Pad 12-inch EP121 are Windows based devices, ASUS envisions the Eee Pad as “an ultra-slim and light yet high-performance slate device designed to provide users with a real time cloud computing experience.” The Eee Pad will be available in two distinct screen sizes and configurations at a price range of $399 to $499. 
Asus Eee Tablet The Eee Tablet needs a stylus, and can function as a digital note taking device. It has a 2450 dpi touch resolution screen that gives the user the feel of writing on paper. Real time text annotations can also be made on-the-fly. The Eee Tablet is capable of functioning as a media player and e-reader as well, and has a built-in 2 megapixel camera, letting the user grab screenshots of lecture slides and write notes on them instantly. It easily syncs up with a PC or notebook via USB or Micro SD to ensure that all notes, content, and calendars are constantly kept up-to-date. The Eee Tablet has 10-hours of battery life, and is expected to cost somewhere between $199 to $299 when launched in September. Performance wise, the Eee Tablet’s screen makes reading easier on the eye, and claims that text file page turns are nine times faster than the page turns of normal e-readers.
Eee Pad EP121 This 12-inch tablet is powered by a CULV Intel Core 2 Duo processor and the Windows 7 Home Premium operating system, and claims 10 hours of battery life. The ASUS Eee Pad EP121 offers two convenient modes of character input - an embedded virtual keyboard, and a hybrid keyboard/docking station. The Eee Pad will serve as a multimedia player, e-reader, and compact computing device. The device will be capable of multitasking, users will be able to check their email and calendars, have video conferences, or process Microsoft Word and Excel documents simultaneously.
10” Eee Pad EP101TC This tablet runs Windows Embedded Compact 7, providing instant connectivity to Windows based devices and cloud computing services. Not much is known about the specs at this point except that is a Tegra-powed device. Engadget has a hands-on preview of the both the Eee Pads.
