Android ICS ported to Amazon Kindle Fire

By Swapnil Kale RSS Swapnil Kale posted Dec 8th 2011 at 10:11PM | Filed under: Mobile » Tablet

One thing which Android developers love to do a lot is to port custom ROMs or different versions of Android on different devices. The new Kindle Fire from Amazon is one device that has many developers interested maybe because of its affordable pricing or maybe no one really like the custom UI from Amazon.

We recently saw Cyanogen Mod 7 being ported on the device and now a XDA member knows as G1011999 has ported Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich to this 7-inch Android tablet. Of course none of the pre-loaded Amazon features work on the device many of the Android ICS features are yet to be fully functional. This is as early stage of the port and we hope it becomes more functional in the near future.

Here is a video of Android ICS running on the Kindle Fire.
