ZTE introduces Mimosa X, a Tegra 2 smartphone with Icera Modem [MWC 2012]

The Mobile World Congress 2012 is just a few days away and manufacturers are already unveiling details about their smartphones ahead of the news cycle. Now NVIDIA and ZTE have introduced a new smartphone which is powered by a dual-core Tegra 2 processor and an Icera Modem. NVIDIA and acquired modem maker Icera last year for $367 million.

Mimosa X will be an Android Ice Cream Sandwich based smartphone with a 4.3-inch qHD display and built-in Dolby sound. It will also include a 5 megapixel camera, secondary front facing camera, HD video capture, DLNA support and built-in gyroscope.

The smartphone will feature an Icera 450 HSPA+ modem which supports multiband HSPA+ with speeds of up to 21 Mbps. NVIDIA informs that the Mimosa X is targeted towards the ‘mainstream market’ and even the specifications suggest that it could be a mid-ranged smartphone. There has been no word whther the device will make it to the Indian market, but the Mimosa X is expected to launch in Q2 2012 in select markets.
