Mobile phone to be able to convert spoken words into SMSes

Hate typing out long SMSes? Your mobile phone would soon be able to understand your spoken words and convert them into written messages.
According to the Times of India, a new mobile technology developed by the International Institute of Information Technology (IIIT) would enable mobile phones to accept speech as input and convert the spoken words into text messages or SMSes.
“You can talk to the mobile phone. Suppose, anybody does not know reading or writing, they can dictate the phone the SMS, which they would like to send. They should be able to speak it out and then the phone will convert it into text and send it as a message. The technology will also benefit users of mobile phones having small screens and keyboards, making it difficult to type letters,” adds Rajeev Sangal, Director of IIIT.
The Ministry of Information Technology has agreed to fund this mobile technology project which is expected to be ready in the next two years.
