Emporia's Simple Phones for the Elderly

By Abhimanyu Radhakrishnan RSS Abhimanyu Radhakrishnan posted Feb 24th 2010 at 2:19AM | Filed under: Mobile » Mobile Phone

I wanted to buy a phone for my grandmother for her birthday this year, but just couldn't find something made specifically for senior citizens. I finally landed up buying one of those FWT (fixed wireless telephones) from Tata Indicom (I think it was the "walky" model) because it was the only one with big buttons and a bright monochrome screen. The only problem is that it looks clunky!

Both the Emporia Elegance and the Emporia Solid will be available in Spring 2010 though no word yet on pricing. Although the company doesn't have a presence in India, they did mention being on the lookout for local distributors. We think there's a huge market for these phones, especially in a country that gives extra marks to mobiles that are rugged and simple. "Dharamji" could even be brand ambassador ...
