Valve releases Steam mobile app

Valve has released mobile apps for the iOS and Android to compliment its online game distribution business. This app will not allow users to download and play mobile games, at least not at this juncture. The Steam mobile app will allow account holders to chat with friends, browse the online game catalogue and capitalize on those sweet deals that Steam is renowned for.

The Steam app is available as a free download from the iTunes Store and the Android Market. However, the application is undergoing a closed-beta, which means that you won’t be able to do much without an invite from Valve. If you are eager to try the application now, you could download it from one of the mobile app stores, register your interest with Valve and wait for an invite. Valve is expected to open up the beta to more users as the application nears it launch date.
