Dress 2.1 eclair to be Froyo for better functionality

Android Froyo 2.2 will take time to rollout on most phones.. if just want to get a taste of what is to come, then the next best thing is LauncherPro. This is a home skin with some neat application settings which helps a lot in improving general productivity.

LauncherPro is an free application available in the Android Market and is very easy to operate. This application renders the parent company widgets inaccessible but default Android widgets are available for customisation. The phone seems to get more interactive since the home-screen can be accessed in both portrait and landscape mode. In addition to the seven home screens, there is a scroll bar which helps access the most important applications very easily. The home screen still has the Android widgets which include mostly all the features required by the user. Below is the customised dock of Froyo in the normal variant, there are other options to customise the look and feel of it. All the shortcuts in the scroll dock bar can be replaced with more user-oriented applications.

The same home-screen in the landscape looks a little untidy, since the icons are not properly aligned.

The change in the dock scroll bar can be seen here.

The menu is like that of Froyo with the only difference being that the original look is more rounded which this remains rectangular. There are options to adjust the number of applications in a row according to the user's interest. The same menu in the landscape mode seems more appealing.

Replacing a shortcut is child's play with a long press on the icon to replace. Additionally, you can choosing your icon from LauncherPro, either default or an mage from the phone.

LauncherPro goes great with the theme and a customised image is too much work, since it requires exact resizing in the default mode.

Android widgets options still remain the same.

The settings give a lot of options to further enhance the phone's capabilities.
