Skype now on Android 2.1 phones and above

What took them so long you might ask – while there were workarounds, Nokia S60 phones had Skype long before Android, with video calling support tacked on via Fring. The official Android app lets you make free Skype calls over Wi-Fi - there is no mention of video calling, which could bring the promise of FaceTime to the unwashed Android masses. The app will only work on Android 2.1 and above devices, so that means that the Dell Streak will be no good as a Skyping machine until the promised 2.2 upgrade. (More)
