Google's online storage service may be coming soon
Rumors of Google launching an online storage service like Apple’s iCloud and Dropbox are surfacing once again. Similar rumors did rounds in the past, about Google offering a cloud storage service under the moniker of GDrive. This time around, it’s The Wall Street Journal that has cited its insider sources that confirm such a service will be going live in the coming weeks or months.

The service, if and when it goes live, will be called Drive and it will be comprised of free and paid services. Google will allow its account holders to store data for free up till a certain amount, beyond which the company will charge a fee. It would be interesting to see if the powers-that-be will scrutinize these types of services provided by these big names – like Apple, Dropbox and possibly Google— along the same lines as they have been investigating file-sharing sites like MegaUpload. According to the same report by WSJ, Google officials have declined to comment on these rumors.
