Warface: Crytek’s free-to-play shooter
Crytek, the creators of the original Far Cry and the Crysis series are working on a free-to-play online shooter called Warface. The game’s background is built on the ever popular New World Order conspiracy theory. Warface is set in the near future when the nation states have crumbled and the power vacuum is filled by a private military organization called the Blackwood, which is controlled by a conglomerate of corporations.

Crytek is using the CryENGINE 3 to develop Warface, which should ensure stunning visuals comparable to a top-notch AAA shooter. The finer details about game-play are presently scarce, but we do know that it will feature both co-operative (PvE) and competitive (PvP) matches. We know that Warface will be free to play, but we do not know which portion of the game will require the player to cough up some dough. Warface will be making its debut in Asia, namely South Korea and mainland China, before making its way westwards. All of this is expected to happen sometime this year.
You can head on to the official game site to watch the trailer or you can view a pre-alpha game-play video right after the break.
