Best of GDC 2011: Super Trailer Fest! [Updated]

By Andre Rodrigues RSS Andre Rodrigues posted Mar 3rd 2011 at 7:38PM | Filed under: Gaming » Gaming

Game Developers Conference 2011 is upon us and we at Technoholik decided to put up some of the most epic videos to come out of the event. Scroll past the break to get a taste of Skyward Sword, Ninja Gaiden 3, Battle: LA, HomeFront, Infamous 2, Sengoku, Dead Island, and Catherine.

Resistance 3

Resistance 3 is right around the corner and heres a glimpse of its Cloak and Dagger Multiplayer modes.

Beyond Good and Evil HD

Yes, you read that right. The classic adventure game makes a comeback on the Xbox Live. Truthfully, I have always wanted to play this game, but by the time I got around to it. I absolutely cannot wait for this, now is my chance to finally play this classic again in HD.

Trenched

Tim Shafer's Double Fine Studios is at it again. The genius behind Full Throttle, Monkey Island, Grim Fandango, Brutal Legend and more, has a new game in the works. Trenched features lots of cool Mechas, very cool World War 2 meets Mechwarrior mechas with lots of quirky action. As seen in this awesome agitprop like trailer.

Patapon 3

The PSP is still hanging on the edge of the cliff with a very few bruised fingers. One of those fingers being the Patapon series. Fun, engaging and extremely addictive, Patapon is one of those games that keep your feet tapping and yourself humming throughout your day. Just revealed is the third in the series. Where the poor Patapons have been driven away from their homeland and end up shipwrecked on foreign land. Sounds like more footstompin' fun.

Eleven Games using CryEngine 3

CryTek shows of eleven games using their engine, all of them looking great. Especially the untitled MMORPG and yeah the Dubai S.W.A.T training game. Clearly not reached Unreal Engine 3 caliber games, but its getting there. Especially since Unreal Engine 3 also stole the GDC, we're awaiting video on that one.

Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword (Wii)

Not to be ousted by the Move or Kinect, Nintendo flashes its wang... er wand... er Wii Motion Plus controller thingy with some sweet looking Zelda swordplay and the glimpse of a new character to the series. The graphics look very Zelda-like, with earthy tones and a solid 3D feel. The game has no shortage of trademark Zelda puzzles as seen in the trailer, also theres lots to slash off.

Ninja Gaiden 3

The bloody, brutal Ninja Gaiden is back. In this quick glimpse of a trailer drops you right in the middle of Ryu's sword, slashing you up. Just before the trailer cuts, Ryu is shown pulling off his mask. Looks like we'll know more at the E3 round the corner.

CryEngine 3 Demo will make you cry

CryTek declares its CryEngine 3 open to licensors. The demo looks drop dead gorgeous.  All of it is realtime, especially the in-game movie engine. Also shown is the nifty realtime creation toolbox. Gentlemen, Start reupdating your rigs, cause you're current one will get a hernia and possible blow a gasket running such beauty.

Battle: Los Angeles

As a rule of thumb, Movie game tie-ins always end up sucking a bit. However, Battle: LA was revealed, and it looks pretty damn good, see for yourself.

Homefront

Live action trailers seem to be in vogue this gaming season. THQ releases a brand new trailer for their controversial shooter, Homefront, a FPS set in an America invaded by the Korean Peoples Army. Written by John Milius of Apocaplyse Now fame, Homefront promises an engaging experience that tows the heartstrings and gives you a front seat experience to the horrors of war.

Infamous 2 - Create your own Missions trailer

Bored of the usual cut and dry fetch missions? Do you think you can create the perfect rooftop battle? Well, Sucker Punch is giving you the tools to create your own missions. Heres a look at the tools.

Sengoku

Paradox Interactive just debuted Sengoku. A strategy sim that has you sieze control of your clan and takeover the land.

Dead Island

Creepy and beautiful. After years in the making, this game finally sees the light of day in a brutally stunning trailer.

Catherine

Finally, the icing on the GDC cake. Atlus's erotic-psychotic-demonic game that the world has been salivating over, Catherine is finally making its way out of Japan. From the same team behind the stellar Persona 4. Here is the first english trailer, so you can finally know whats going on. Note: This Video contains some suggestive content, without actually going into the Adult area. NSFW

Thats all folks. I will be updating this post as and when new content comes out. If I have left anything out, feel free to post a comment.
