RIM rumored to be looking for buyers
According to a news report files on BGR website, Research in Motion is possibly looking to sell parts or the entire company, and it is actively pursuing buyers. On top of the list of possible buyers is Samsung Electronics, who has the buying power and potential interest in taking over RIM.
This report goes on to add that RIM co-CEO, Jim Balsillie is personally involved in looking for buyers, and in particular, is getting Samsung to agree on the deal. One of the reasons the deal hasn’t been finalized is because other co-CEOs of the company are asking too much for the sale. Unconfirmed reports suggest that the executives are looking for somewhere between $12 billion to $15 billion for the entire business, while the company’s current capitalization is about $8.5 billion. Samsung released a statement via Reuters that they are “not interested in (buying RIM)" and denied being contacted by RIM for a takeover.
