ExoPC has started taking pre-orders for its Windows 7-based ExoPC Slate devices. The Slate will use Sandisk’s solid state drive (SSD) as its primary storage device primary storage device. Other specs include an Intel Atom 1.66 GHz processor with 2 GB DDR2 RAM and BROADCOM’s Crystal HD processor for HD playback. The device will run Windows 7 Home Premium edition and its 11.6” dual-touch capacitive screen has a maximum resolution of 1366 x 768.
The official post which confirmed the pre-orders also stated that the 64GB version of Slate may not have GPS capability, citing inability to “have it work on the prototype” as the reason. The good news is that the price of the 64 GB version will remain unchanged even if they do manage to get the GPS to work in time for release. The post also confirmed that device’s battery-life will be just four hours.
