Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 Mini: smallest Android phone yet [price update]

The Xperia X10 Mini is a compacted version of the Xperia X10, launched late March this year. It’s an Android v1.6 phone with a 2.55-inch QVGA screen (240x320 pixels), similar in size and OS to the HTC Tattoo, the smaller screen size can be a bit of an impediment to heavy texting and apps that require hi-res screens.

Compact QVGA Android Phones Priced at Rs 15,000, it's slightly more expensive than the Tattoo, but betters the former with a capacitive screen, 5-megapixel camera with LED flash, and the ability to record VGA resolution video at 30 FPS. The Xperia X10 Mini has a proprietary UI implementation called Timescape, that brings data from all your communication nodes SMS, email, missed calls, Facebook and Twitter updates chronologically on the homescreen, so you don't have to open loads of different apps to see what's going on.

We're tracking a dozen-odd Android phones now available in India, the Xperia X10 mini can expect competition from the Samsung i5500 Corby Smartphone in the coming months, which will be launched in Europe in a week. Priced at 200 Euros, it has a 2.8-inch capacitive QVGA screen and 2-megapixel camera, and runs Android 2.1. If you wanted the functionality and features of the X10 Mini with a keyboard, you should hold on for for the the X10 Mini Pro. It has identical specs to the Mini, but with a slide-out QWERTY keyboard.
