With the curtains drawn on this year’s Consumer Electronics Show, we take a look at some of the key highlights from the expo. Continuing on last year’s trend, the consumer electronics industry remains focused on tablets, smartphones and laptops. Intel returned to the expo with renewed focus on processors for mobile computing devices and forging significant alliances with the likes of Lenovo and Motorola to take on ARM in the mobile phone sector. A lot of this hardware revolved around Microsoft’s upcoming Windows 8 operating system that is being developed for both desktop and mobile computing. According to a report published by the Indian counterpart of BGR website, Nokia’s Asha series of feature phones are scheduled for release by the middle of December. The Asha series was unveiled by Nokia around the same time they announced their plans for WP7 based smartphones.
