CES 2012 Round-up: Laptops and Ultrabooks

Intel introduced the concept of Ultrabooks last year that are essentially lean laptops with low voltage processors and quick boot times with the help of solid state storage. Judging by the showcased products by top laptop manufacturers at this year’s CES, it appears that traditional laptops are going to take a back seat in favor of this new generation of portable computers. Ultrabooks are likely to pick up pace by the middle of this year with the release of the next generation of Intel processors and a brand new operating system from Microsoft. Around the same time we are also likely to see proliferation of hybrid machines that can adapt to work as laptops, tablets and entertainment stations. Following is a selection of announcements from this year’s electronics expo that are a herald of things to come.
