LG to bring 55-inch OLED TV to CES 2012

LG OLED TVOLED display technology that was so far confined to mobile phones and small-screen TV is, as expected, entering large screens territory. LG is the latest player in the display business to confirm development of a large-screen OLED HDTV, which in this case measures 55 inches. At this moment, LG has demonstrated its achievement through a press release and a couple of promotional photographs. LG has unveiled a new 47-inch LCD panel based on the company’s latest efforts to reduce power consumption, while maintaining respectable brightness level. The company claims that their efforts in that direction have resulted in an LCD panel that is the least power consuming among displays that are larger than 40 inches. It’s been a while now since the Samsung’s line-up of ‘Smart TV’ made their debut in the market. While it would seem like Samsung is currently not considering sending out review units, they did the next best thing by setting up a demonstration at one of their more spacious and exclusive stores. Samsung’s line-up of Smart TV currently offered in the Indian market includes five LED-backlit models that measures between 32” and 60”, with price ranging between Rs. 57,900 to Rs. 4,00,000. For what could be the last bit of noteworthy news coming out of this year’s Computex in Taipei, Champtron was at the floor with their 65-inch behemoth that has support for two-finger touch input. This display carries a Sharp panel with native resolution of 1080p that can even recognize touch-input via a stylus.
